The operator above is responsible for the website’s own processing. This notice covers elkasoft.xyz, related support enquiries and the publisher’s website statistics. It does not replace application-specific privacy information or the policies of external services.
Hosting, security and technical logs
Cloudflare hosts and protects the website. Requests necessarily include technical information such as an IP address, requested address, time, browser or device details and connection information. Cloudflare may derive an approximate location and process security signals to deliver pages, prevent abuse and diagnose problems.
Private operational logs can contain request metadata and error details. They are not displayed to visitors. The website’s custom statistical tables do not store IP addresses, although an IP address is used transiently for abuse rate limiting and may be present in Cloudflare’s technical logs.
Website and download statistics
The custom collector records daily totals for recognised page paths and selected outbound clicks, together with the related application, release channel, country code and a broad referring-source category such as Direct, GitHub or Other. Referrer origins are sent to the collector and reduced to those categories before storage. Query strings and full referring-page addresses are not included in these statistical records.
The collector does not create accounts, persistent visitor identifiers, advertising profiles or cross-site tracking cookies. Page entries are estimates, and clicking a download link does not prove that a download completed.
Public GitHub release-file download counts and aggregate Microsoft Store acquisition reports help the publisher understand application usage and distribution. These reports are not matched to identifiable website visitors. Microsoft and GitHub process their own users’ information under their own policies.
Support and optional donations
If you contact ElkaSoft through Discord, GitHub or another contact channel, the information you choose to send is used to respond, investigate problems and manage the conversation. Public channels and GitHub issues are public. Do not post passwords, private keys, payment details or other confidential information there; request a private channel when necessary.
If you donate through Ko-fi, Ko-fi and its payment providers handle the transaction. The website’s statistics collector retains a notification identifier, payment day, amount, currency, payment type and receipt time. It does not retain the donor name, email, message or card details from that notification. Information available to the publisher inside Ko-fi is governed by the platform’s own service and privacy arrangements.
Purposes and legal bases
Where data protection law applies, information needed to deliver and secure the website, diagnose faults, answer enquiries and understand aggregate demand is processed for the operator’s legitimate interests in running and improving ElkaSoft, subject to the rights of the people concerned.
Where applicable, handling a requested transaction or support obligation may be necessary to perform a contract, and financial or legal records may be processed to meet legal obligations. If a future feature requires consent, it must obtain that consent before the relevant processing begins; this notice is not a request for blanket consent.
Service providers and international processing
Cloudflare provides hosting, security and storage. Email sent to the published Gmail contact is handled through Google’s Gmail service under Google’s privacy policy. Relevant support and payment services receive the information you provide through them. Access to the private statistics dashboard is restricted to the publisher and authorised administrators. The site has no advertising network and does not sell its visitor statistics.
Cloudflare and the linked platforms operate internationally, so information may be processed outside your country, including outside the EEA. Applicable provider agreements and transfer safeguards govern that processing. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy and its data processing terms for information about its role and safeguards.
External links open independent services; this website does not embed their social feeds or payment checkout. Review a service’s policy when you use it.
How long information is kept
- Custom daily website totals and GitHub history: approximately 800 days, removed through scheduled cleanup.
- Current GitHub release-file totals: replaced when a new successful snapshot is collected.
- Cloudflare Worker logs and traces: short-term provider retention, currently up to seven days depending on the plan. Other Cloudflare security records follow the provider’s applicable retention rules.
- Support messages: kept as needed to handle the enquiry, follow-up issues, disputes and legal obligations. Public posts and records on external platforms also follow those platforms’ rules.
- Donation records: kept as needed for reconciliation, duplicate prevention, disputes and applicable bookkeeping requirements.
Your choices and rights
The custom browser collector skips collection when your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control. These signals do not prevent technical processing needed to deliver and protect the site. You can also disable JavaScript; the main pages and download links remain usable.
Depending on the law that applies, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or receive a copy of personal data, and to object to processing based on legitimate interests. Where consent is used, it can be withdrawn for future processing. Contact the operator through the private legal contact above. Information that is genuinely aggregate and cannot identify a person may not be traceable to an individual request.
You may complain to your local data protection authority. Where Icelandic law applies, the authority is Persónuvernd. The site does not use automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on visitors.
